What is myeo?

MyEO Events are one of the most flexible and empowering ways to customize your EO experience. Whether you're passionate about business, lifestyle, adventure, wellness, or social impact—if you can imagine it, you can create it. Here's how to get started!

Find Your inspiration

Think of an experience you’d like to share with others. MyEO Events can range from intimate dinners and wine tastings to epic treks up Kilimanjaro or deep-dive business workshops. If it brings EO members together meaningfully within the mission of our organization, it qualifies.

Gather the details

Outline your event or gathering:

  • Theme or purpose

  • Target audience (local chapter, regional, global)

  • Format (in-person or virtual)

  • Date and duration

  • Location and venue

  • Maybe: Budget and costs to attendees (we can help you charge a per-head fee)*

*MyEO events must never operate at a profit.

Register your event

Submit your event information in this form. The chapter staff will get your event approved and create an event registration page for you!

Promote it!

As the Event Champion, you’ll lead outreach. Use email, EO social media groups, and the chapter’s communication tools to build interest. The chapter staff will help you get your message into our newsletters.

Host with Heart

Whether you’re gathering five people or fifty, remember the MyEO ethos: by members, for members. Make it authentic, fun, and enriching. Invite SLPs or adult children, if relevant—it’s a great way to integrate EO into family life.

Follow Up

After your event, share takeaways, thank your attendees, and invite them to connect in a MyEO Group if relevant. Consider hosting again!

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Who can host a MyEO Event?
Any EO member in good standing can create and champion a MyEO Event.

What kind of events do or don’t qualify as MyEO Events?
MyEO Events can be anything that brings EO members together around a shared interest—business, adventure, wellness, family, social impact, or even just fun. If it supports connection, learning, or growth, it fits. MyEO events cannot be promotional or sales-oriented, cannot be fundraisers, and cannot promote a religious ideology or political candidacy. For more questions related to your event, write to admin@eoportland.org.

Do I need EO approval to host an event?
Yes. You need the approval of a staff member or the MyEO Board Chair to formally promote a MyEO event. This ensures your event is recognized, promoted, and aligned with EO values.

Can I charge attendees to cover event costs?
Yes. Many MyEO Events are user-pay! As the Event Champion, you determine the budget and cost structure. Just be transparent in your event listing!

Is there funding or support available for MyEO Events?
MyEO Events are participant-funded, but if your event requires insurance the MyEO Chair can usually cover the event insurance cost. Just mention this in your submission!

Can Spouses, Life Partners, SAPs, or guests attend?
Absolutely. Many MyEO Events welcome SLPs, families, and invited guests. Be sure to specify who can attend in your event registration.

What’s the difference between a MyEO Group and a MyEO Event?
A MyEO Group is a group of members who meet in any ongoing manner around a shared interest or industry. A MyEO Event is a one-time experience that may or may not be tied to a group. You can host an event without starting a group.
