A MyEO Discussion with John Botaitis, the Chief Tax Appraiser in Multnomah County
Join EO Member Joe Squires for an in-depth conversation with John Botaitis, the leading authority on property taxation in Multnomah County, as he breaks down some of the most consequential — and least understood — forces shaping the financial landscape for Portland property owners and businesses . AMV, RMV, MAV, if you dont know what those property tax terms mean and how they affect your taxes, this is the event for you. Lunch is included.
As Portland continues to navigate real estate values plummeting, property tax compression has emerged as a critical issue affecting the operations of the County and City.
John will walk us through how Oregon's Measure 5 limits taxes, what compression means for property owners and for the public services that depend on those revenues, and what trends Multnomah County is tracking heading into the next assessment cycle.
This is a rare opportunity to get straight answers from the person closest to the data because he is the one who gathers it.
Whether you own a home or commercial real estate, manage a business with significant property holdings, or simply want to understand your tax bill, this conversation will deliver clarity and context you won't find anywhere else.
Please park on the street, or in the parking lot across the street to the south for free. (It's pay to park, but HR Annie is kindly suspend ticketing that day.)
